Use of University Facilities and Services

Summary

Requires written supervisor approval before staff use University facilities or equipment in connection with compensated outside activities, with the established rate payable by the staff member or outside sponsor.

I. Use Of University Facilities And Services

Except for the use of office space assigned to a faculty or staff member and available library services, University facilities (including, with limitation, computers and other equipment) may be used by staff members in connection with compensated outside activities only after written approval by the appropriate supervisor. In all cases, the staff member or outside employer or sponsor will pay the rate established by the University for the use of the facility, equipment, materials, or services.

While staff members may utilize the services of University secretarial staff to assist in the preparation of professional articles, papers, reviews, etc., instructional efforts take precedence over personal activity.
